Other Highlights

Today, Los Angeles is enjoying record lows in crime that would have been unthinkable 15 years ago. Violent crime is down 20%. Homicides are at a 40 year low.
Our streets are the safest they've been since 1954.
There is a reason for this success:
Crime is at a record low in Los Angeles because our police force is at a record high.
Now, there are some who argue that we should turn back the clock on this progress. That in the face of an unprecedented fiscal crises, we can no longer afford all our police officers, and that shrinking the LAPD is an acceptable way to balance the budget.
There is a better way. We can make fiscally responsible compromises that would slow the pace of new hiring but would maintain current deployment levels. We just can't afford to go backwards on public safety.
See how the historic investment in our police force of the has affected your part of Los Angeles.
