Angelenos, I offer this oath today. In the next four years, we are going to judge ourselves plain and simple – based on what we build. We intend to write our record in concrete rather than poetry, focused on deadlines over headlines.
And you have this in writing: We are going to track our promises and put the results online. And we are going to build our efforts around five clear goals for the next four years.

In the next four years, Mayor Villaraigosa will:
• Lead an effort to rethink how the City of Los Angeles practices economic development using the powerful economic engines – the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Airport and Port – to offer packages of incentives to give businesses a reason to locate and stay in LA;
• Refocus the Mayor’s Business Team making it into a Jobs Team creating a business concierge unit to provide entrepreneurs with help in solving day-to-day problems;
• Recruit business leaders from outside City Hall to become business ambassadors to better connect the private sector with government services; and,
• Aggressively target emerging sectors of growth to attract new businesses to Los Angeles.
