Mayor Villaraigosa joined Deluxe Entertainment Services Group and MacAndrews and Forbes Holding to welcome guests to the grand opening of Deluxe’s expanded 152,000 sq. ft. campus in Hollywood, including screening theaters and facilities for film services. Deluxe has 500 employees in Hollywood and over 4,200 employees worldwide. READ MORE
Mayor Villaraigosa attended the Grand Opening of a major Hollywood attraction, the $55 million, 44,000 sq. ft. Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, a project that produced over 350 construction jobs and over 100 permanent jobs. READ MORE
Mayor Villaraigosa visited five Hollywood locations that are producing more local jobs everyday, including the Roosevelt Hotel, Trailer Park and El Capitan. The various businesses visited have created a total of over 1,000 permanent jobs. READ MORE
Mayor Villaraigosa joined the LADWP and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to announce a collaboration that will deploy JPL's advanced technology to help create local clean technology firms while promoting innovative methods of sustainability. Mayor Villaraigosa met with Pouria Abbassi, General Manager of the LA Convention Center, to review the LACC’s gross revenues for the Fiscal Year 2008-09, the highest of the last 8 years. LACC activities supported 12,000 jobs and contributed $1.16 billion in economic activity to the Los Angeles region. READ MORE
Deputy Mayor David Freeman highlighted the Mayor’s bold Cleantech agenda to over 200 solar energy policy-makers and business leaders from Southern California and China at the US-Jiangsu Solar Business Summit. The City of Los Angeles sponsored the summit, which included a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Los Angeles and China’s Jiangsu Province. READ MORE
Speaking to the City’s Director of Finance and the full City Council, Mayor Villaraigosa outlined his own recommendations for reform of the City’s Business License Tax Ordinance, including support for job-producing incentives and motions that would assist small businesses significantly. READ MORE
Mayor Villaraigosa directed the Department of Building and Safety to extend the building permit deadline for an additional 18 months. The extension is a response to poor financial and housing markets, ultimately assisting developers in producing new projects and creating more jobs. READ MORE
