The New Dana Strand Revitalization is a mixed-used affordable residential community replacing the former Dana Strand Village public housing project in Wilmington. The goals of the revitalization project are to invest in the community and improve the neighborhood’s potential for economic development.
The community features a Lifelong Learning Center with a sports facility, childcare center and a computer learning center as well as pocket parks that provide open space.

The Nickerson Gardens Revitalization project just completed the SAGE Center, a new skate park and multi-purpose court in the Watts community. A rendering of the project is seen here to the right.
The SAGE Center operates a before-and-after school program, Head Start pre-school, athletic programs for youth, a computer learning center as well as employment and training programs.
Partnering with the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA/LA), Mayor Villaraigosa and the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) are improving the quality of affordable homes to create a vibrant urban village and model for public housing developments throughout the country.
This dynamic revitalization plan pours more resources into youth development programs in the surrounding Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) zone, promises an improved education at our local Partnership campuses, promotes transit-oriented development, supports an expansion of workforce development and job training resources for Watts families, and transforms Jordan Downs into the greenest public housing site in the nation.
